Great morning of football for our First Kickers!

Posted by

Rossglass County’s “little nippers” were in sparkling form at Downpatrick Sports Centre this morning where they continued their football development under the watchful eye of their coaches.

The young County teams played against Celtic Bhoys and Newcastle and everyone was in fabulous form. There were great performances all round especially from Troy, (pictured left) who made his Rossglass debut and Aaron (pictured right), who made some lovely passes from midfield.

A special mention must go to Ethan, who after fouling an opposing player picked the young boy up and gave him the ball for a freekick. He was called a gentleman by the opposing team coach. Well done Ethan, great sportsmanship!

All the boys did the team proud and were on their best behaviour.

Soccer Sunday for our First Kickers is back in two weeks time!

Rossglass 2010s invited to the Cliftonville Youth Cup

Following on from the Glentoran tournament earlier in the year, our Under 8’s will be attending the Cliftonville Youth Cup in May sponsored by “fonaCAB” . The young County team have a tough group after drawing the hosts in Group 3, along with Carryduff Colts and Carmoney FC. However Rossglass will go into this competition full of confidence having given a great account of themselves earlier in the year at the Glen’s tournament. Over the next few months the boys and girls will be training hard under the watchful eye of coaches Danny McGarrity and Fintan Bradley. We hope to have great support at Solitude. Watch this space for more details…

Rossglass 2012s invited to Crusaders Tournament

Rossglass County have been invited to take part in the largest 2012 tournament in Northern Ireland to date. Organised by Irish League club Crusaders, the tournament will take place on Sunday 29th April at Seaview.

Rossglass County FC will be taking two teams to participate in the Red (A) and Blue (Development) sections.

The Red section has pulled up a serious test for our team after being drawn in the same group as Cliftonville while the Development team have an equally hard task against Kilmore Rec and East Belfast.

The boys and girls of Rossglass have been training really hard for this competition and we are confident they will do County proud. Our “little nippers” can’t wait and we have specially organised friendly this Sunday against Celtic Bhoys of Downpatrick. Good luck to all the boys and girls…check back to hear how our little nipper got on!

ASDA Bagpack for Rossglass.

Posted by

On Saturday 10th Feb, Rossglass County F.C. helped the shoppers in ASDA Downpatrick bag their groceries in return for a voluntary donation.

We’d like to say a very big thank you to ASDA for allowing us this valuable fundraising opportunity and to the players, coaches, committee members and volunteers who gave up their spare time to help out. We really appreciate it.

The bag pack was a great success and all funds will go towards our development fund. The only complaint on the day was that Trish who put in a 4 hour shift never received her costa coffee!

First Kickers at Downpatrick Sports Centre

Rossglass County’s “little nippers” took to the field on Sunday as part of their continued football development. Too young for the small sided games at the Red High, Celtic Bhoys F.C have introduced a great new initiative to get our little ones playing football against other teams.

Five clubs took part in a three hour extravaganza on the 3G pitches at Downpatrick Sports Centre. Including ourselves and Celtic Bhoys there were also teams from Newcastle, Ballynagross and Crusaders from the Irish League.

The boys and girls of Rossglass thoroughly enjoyed themselves and our two teams turned in some fantastic performances. Conor Bradley, Ben Ford and Sé Tumelty had a field day in front of goals while Ethan Murphy, Tom Kelly and Fionn McCargo were steadfast in defence.

Due to the outstanding success of this initiative the “First Kickers” will continue at the start of each Month.

If you want to see just how much fun the kids had…just watch our video on the website or on our youtube channel and don’t forget to share it with your friends and family.

Huge thank you to Liverpool Football Club for kindly donating it to Rossglass.

Michael McMullan won second prize – a football shirt of his own choice and Philip Doran took home our Christmas food hamper. Well done everyone who won prizes.

We would also like to thank all the players, parents and volunteer raffle sellers who sold and bought tickets for the draw. The raffle wouldn’t have been such a success without your support! Thank you.
